This summer what you need in sea side, beach, fresh air…

Well, believe it or not this you can get in the middle of Paris at the Apostrophe hotel !

In our “Ephemere traces” room of course you have air conditioned. But moreover you will appreciate its estival and peacefull atmosphere : water reflects, feet steps traces. Maybe you will not recognise it but the photos on your walls were shot in Copacabana famous beach of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) !

Something else ? The jacuzzi bath with its changing colours. Something you will really appreciate after a warm day walking whole Paris !

Who said there is no beach in Paris ?

From July 20 to August 20 why not going to the beach in Paris ?

You will find all kind of activities : pedalos, canoës, sail, trampoline, “pétanque” : there is for all the tastes …

You can of course just walk around, sunbathe or fresh up to one of the fontains. There are giants “atomizers” and small bars : maybe the most popular places when its getting really hot.

For the 8th time “Paris Plage” takes place along the river Seine and proves we also have a beach !

Don’t forget the “Fnac Indétendances” Festival which will take place this year on “Parvis de l’Hôtel de Ville” from July 24 to August 15 (free concerts such as : Amadou & Mariam, Naïve New Beaters, The Bewitched Hands On The Top of Our Heads, La Rue Ketanou, Cirkus (avec Neneh Cherry), Peter von Poehl, Piers Faccini, Joseph Arthur, Fujiya & Miyagi, Flow, La Ruda, Krystle Warren, Chinese Man, La Casa, Karimouche….)

Paris Plages will be opened everyday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. (midnight in some locations).
Main spots : La Voie Pompidou, Le bassin de la Villette (taking place there for the 3rd time).

Light and shadow : lighting rimes with poetry

Ligthts, reflections, effects of mirrors, amazing ceiling. The room “Light and Shadow” of Apostrophe hotel is one of the most cosy and surprising one. On the bedhead : a very nice view of “‘Opéra Comique de Paris” taken at twilight, curtains printed with trees’ shadows, the drawing of the bedhead reflects on the table that rolls along the bed, or not ? But what is the ceiling, that gives a nice and shiny light, made of ?

Dear Gayle,

I just finished your book and you won’t be surprised if I tell you it made me cry.

When staying in our hotel here in Paris, you were kind enough as to offer us your book with a dedicacion, and I promised I would read it. I must say I was a bit suspicious : a Best Seller is always “suspect” in France !

But I read your novel in “one breath”, I just could not leave it, like Céline your charming “french fan” that came all the way from Bordeaux to meet you.

More than the moving dilemna of you heroïne in coma (should I stay or should I go) after loosing her family in this car accident. What deeply moved me is the description full of tact and poetry that you made of all these moments of her life.

Your style is simple, direct, clear like crystal juts like Mia your young heroïne. And it’s all about LOVE !

You know what ? I am now going to give the book to my son 14 years old. He is going to tell me that he did not cry, but you and me know it’s not true.

Summer time, let’s bike !

That’s it : summer time in Paris ! Why not trying the Velib’ system and renting a bike at low cost. It’s the best way to visit Paris. So be wit and do like real Parisians : take a bike ride less than half an hour, leave it in any Velib’ station and take another bike… It will cost you 1 euro per day !

The good news : there is a bike station right in front of the Apostrophe hotel.

Since 1985, Miss,Tic and her stencils surprises parisian walkers with her urban slogan full of irony and poetry. She worked in clandestinity for long, trying to avoid Policemen, she is now recognised as a major artist in France and abroad. The Victoria Albert Museum of london and the “Fonds d’art contemporain” of Paris have bought some of her work.

“Miss. Tic : Go Homme” (Homme means men in french) her new exhibition takes place from June 5 to July 11 at Galerie “Lelia Mordoch” (50, rue Mazarine – 75006 Paris). A few steps away from Apostrophe hotel.

A good occasion to discover for the first time or to appreciate once more the tremendous sense of humor of Miss. Tic and one of the best french “Street art” artist .

The greek Apollo

More masculine than the photo above the bed is hardly possible : this is a detail of a greek Apollo taken in the Louvre Museum.

On the top floor of the Apostrophe hotel we have illustrated our moto : “Add two letters to Paris : that’s Paradise” (Jules Renard).

Therefore we created a room D - Woman (Delta letter is a symbol of fecondity) and a room Man (Alpha letter comes from bull head).

Facing the bed : a caligramme designed by C. Feff : a naked man drawn by the definition of mankind.
